Cat House Tiny House

The Cat House is a one-of-a-kind custom-built tiny home, designed with both human and feline residents in mind. Built on a 28’ Movable Roots trailer, this home offers just over 350 square feet of living space, including lofts, and was uniquely crafted to ensure comfort, functionality, and adaptability for life on the road.

When other builders told these clients that their vision couldn’t be done, they didn’t settle. Instead, they turned to Movable Roots, having seen one of our homes at a local tiny home show. We embraced their challenge, designing a fully functional, pet-friendly home that meets their specific needs while allowing them to travel the country in comfort and style.

A Home Built Around People & Pets

What sets the Cat House apart is the level of thought put into both human and feline living needs. This home includes smart space planning, allowing four cats to have their own dedicated areas without compromising livability. Custom-built cabinetry and hidden storage solutions help keep essentials neatly tucked away, ensuring that both people and pets have a clutter-free and organized space.

To enhance privacy, the bathroom was designed to be separated from the main living and kitchen areas, creating a more traditional home feel. The lofted master bedroom was designed with standing room at the foot of the bed, making it easier to change clothes, move around, and access the king-size sleeping area—a rare and valuable feature in tiny home loft designs.

A Tiny Home Ready for Off-Grid Adventures

Since these clients planned to travel frequently throughout the U.S., we equipped their home with off-grid capabilities. Black and grey water tanks were added for self-sufficient waste management, along with a freshwater tank to support extended off-grid stays.

​

To make life on the road even more comfortable, the home features a retractable awning, providing much-needed shade when parked. Built with wind-sensing technology, this awning will automatically retract when wind speeds reach a certain level, ensuring protection from sudden weather changes.
